Over9 was born from a simple but powerful observation: most travellers see Malaysia through a rushed, daytime lens. A quick walk through George Town, a day trip to Cameron Highlands, a boat ride to the Perhentians — and then home before sunset. We knew there was more.

The team behind Over9 are night owls and weekend wanderers who believe that a place only truly opens up when you decide to stay overnight. From the hush of Perhentian waves at midnight to the lantern-lit backstreets of George Town after the tour groups have gone home, we started writing about those moments — and haven't stopped since. What began as a shared frustration with surface-level travel slowly grew into something we couldn't ignore: a platform built for the traveller who wants to feel a place, not just photograph it.

Malaysia is full of destinations that are routinely underestimated — not because they lack depth, but because most visitors simply don't give them enough time. Over9 exists to change that.
